ORIGIN
Ector, a resident of Cleveland, OH developed an appreciation for the fine arts while spending weekends, as a toddler, painting with his grandfather. Gradually, that same appreciation transmuted into a keen eye for beauty and familial photo shoots using disposable cameras that he purchased with his allowance. Ector pursued his passion and graduated from Benedict College in Columbia, SC in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Fine/Studio Arts and further studied photography at The Art Institute of Atlanta.
PROPHECY
Historically, international fashion designers have displayed their haute couture and high fashion collections on runways in Paris, Milan, and London, reserved for the most exclusive buyers and photographers. Ector gained his experience working relentlessly as a photographer for luxury designers, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, and Fendi; meanwhile, he was not approved to attend a coveted Chanel fashion show as a result of waiting until the last minute to submit his credentials. Although this experience was frustrating, the young creative quickly pivoted and began snapping photos of celebrities outside of the venue and realized that streetwear is the real vogue. And voila! Robert Ector Photography was founded in the wise philosophy that the city streets are the real runway, which has proved to be prophetic in the fashion industry during a global pandemic.
RESPECT
Ector has won the respect and friendship of clients such as La La Anthony, Mary J Blige, and Diann Valentine, amongst others, because his professional approach is to make them feel comfortable and encourage confidence during every session. When asked for tips for personal photo shoots, his response was to know your body type, cross your legs to create a lean visual, and have confidence. It’s all in the Details!
